Photobooth

about

It’s been an interesting start to the year for Melbourne indie duo Trace Decay, having played a string of shows (Pre Covid19) along with releasing one of their strongest singles to date, Sad Dance. Not stopping there, the band decided to release one of their more eccentric and delicate songs ‘Photobooth’.Front man Jordan De Pas explains:

“Photobooth was one of those songs that came almost fully formed the moment I started writing and recording it. The lyrics were written almost instantly and everything fell into place from there."

Photobooth details the experience of someone coming to terms with a long term break up & accepting the reality of moving on. There’s a strong sense of optimism and heartbreak as the song opens up with front man Jordan Depas’s voice delivering a raw performance, setting the tone for the rest of the track.

“I needed to write this song to help me move forward with my life and stop hanging onto the past. Funnily enough the only reason I started writing this song was because I was going through my laptop and found old photos from a previous relationship which made me feel both sad and optimistic”.

lyrics

In the photobooth, I saw your face
In the photobooth, I heard your voice
but it’s all past, and what’s left won’t last
just a hard truth, and memories from the photo both
In the photobooth, Things don’t change
In the photobooth, that’s where we’ll stay
